We Are North Melbourne (WANM) was officially incorporated in November 2007 with the main aim to return the control of the North Melbourne Football Club to its members. The administrating members of WANM come from various walks of life and bring with them a wide range of expertise.

Additional members are welcome and will have an active say in the direction and goals that WANM adopts.

A group of North Melbourne Football Club (NMFC) supporters met to plan the return of the North Melbourne Football Club to it's members.

The group established We Are North Melbourne Inc (WANM), an association that aims to acquire return control of the North Melbourne Football Club to the rank and file members. The Association also aims to allow members to have a say in the decision making of the NMFC, something that happens in most other clubs but is currently not available to NMFC members.

WANM Chairman, David Wheaton, said it is time for the members to demand a say in their club. "A few shareholders have the final say on what happens long term to the North Melbourne Football Club and that means the ordinary member has no say," David said. "WANM will seek to acquire shares through a variety of methods, as well as lobbying key stakeholders to ensure the voice of the members is heard."

David went on to explain the Association's stance on relocation to the Gold Coast. "Let the club members decide where they want the club to be based and then the decision cannot be argued", David said. "Right now they have no say and are being treated accordingly. That's what we want to redress as quickly as possible."

"It's time the thoughts of NMFC members were taken into consideration. Too few people are currently considering decisions that are vital to our future with no member consultation. We will work to make sure their voice is heard".
